Killer Web Design Portfolio

by Ron Wilson
A writing career is not something that just happens overnight. Writing is a craft that takes around a decade to master, and while we need to practise continually, we can often get discouraged. There are sometimes a few people who find success early in their careers, though they still haven’t reached the peak of their abilities. This puts pressure on them to improve at a rapid rate, and produce quality work for their audiences.

Choosing a profession as an author could be very lonely, and often extremely unrewarding. By developing a supporting environment, you might minimize some of that loneliness and get in touch with individuals who share similar way of livings. Joining courses, online forums and online writing teams could give you the support team you might need to survive the trying times.

Attempt not to be discouraged by the succees of others, and question why they have actually succeeded, when you have not. There are a great deal of elements that determine one’s success, and if you have not yet prospered, it does not imply you do not have the skill or the ability. By encouraging others, and role modelling them, you place yourself on a higher plane of success for yourself.

Anyone who has ever truly succeeded has failed many times before. Nobody succeeds on their first time, and the biggest successes are often those who have failed the most times but have stuck with it, and learnt from their mistakes. For the creative writer, rejection letters are a part of everyday life, and you cannot let them discourage you, or turn you off your writing.

Writing is an expression of yourself, and it often takes time to mature. Your writing is going to be different to everybody else’s, and it may also take time to find your audience. Don’t expect everyone to like your work, and we can’t please all of the people all of the time. Everyone has unique tastes, and life would be boring if we all liked the same books!

At the end of the day, writing is a job like any other. There are people who have been promoted to positions of high authority, there are others who are spending years on the first rung of the ladder, and there is everything in between. Don’t expect too much too soon.
